Sly Cooper is a 3D, third person platforming video game series that started life in September 2002. In Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, the player needs to secure the titular Thievius Raccoonus, a book containing the accumulated wisdom of Sly Cooper's thieving ancestry.
The player acts as master thief Sly Cooper, and uses stealth to find their way to heist locations, evade police and battle the Fiendish Five, a rival gang in possession of the book. To succeed, Sly relies on his Cooper Gang: Bentley the Turtle and Murray the Hippo, who aid him in the puzzle-solving and platforming necessary to complete tasks.
Artistically, the team at Sucker Punch Productions opted for a cartoon feel, using a variation on cel-shaded rendering for the art the team called "Toon-shading." This emulated the look of cel-shaded cartoons, but spiced up to enhance the three-dimensional aspect of the game.
The 20th Anniversary Sly Cooper art print was specifically developed to celebrate the series' history, and re-imagines the famous heist of the police headquarters in Paris: Sly Raccoon's first heist in the first game!
