The Gate
To celebrate the launch of the real-time strategy epic Homeworld 3, we’re proud to have partnered with Gearbox Publishing and the game’s developer Blackbird Interactive to bring you an all-new painting by the legendary science fiction artist John Harris that brings his vast and beautiful spacescapes to the Homeworld universe.
During a career that has spanned six decades the art of John Harris has appeared on the covers of dozens of books by some of the true giants of science fiction, including Isaac Asimov, John Scalzi, Orson Scott Card and Ann Leckie. In 1984 NASA invited him to witness the launch of the Space Shuttle and his painting depicting that moment now hangs in the Kennedy Space Centre. His visionary art has also been a lifelong inspiration to many at Blackbird and to the Homeworld team, capturing as it does a color-drenched universe with megastructures and vistas as luminous and mysterious as they are vast in scale.
This all-new work by Harris—titled The Gate—combines his signature colossal ship designs and visually striking oil technique with Homeworld’s own deep lore, depicting an ancient, gigantic spacecraft emerging from a jumpgate, flanked by escort ships from the Hiigaran fleet.
This evocative and inspiring artwork from a legendary artist is available to pre-order in three premium, limited editions, including 65 large prints hand-signed by John Harris himself.
* The premium poster does not come with a certificate and does not have a white border. Due to a bug on the site, this information is incorrectly stated on the order form.
